Harlington Fraser-Buchanan Harley bit his lip. The day had been such a whirlwind of events and even he himself couldn't believe all of it. He had finally met his boss - who seemed like a very amiable person and went along with his jokes - and also made a new friend. In the short amount of time he'd known her, Essie certainly was the one person he was closest to in all of Harrisbury for more than one reason. She'd taken something valuable of his and he didn't regret it. It'd been an interesting experience (and probably for Marzipan and Titan too), oh so interesting. It'd taken a while to get the hay out of his hair, though; he kept finding little bits of it poking his head, sticking out of his unkempt hair.
He ran his fingers through the tousled brown hair, rubbing his scalp but finding no hay. It was an irritating feeling, the constant itching, and even after showering it still lingered. He just had to remind himself that the hay was all removed and eventually the itching faded.
Now all he had to do was wait at the restaurant he had originally asked her out to. The only question was if she would still show up after what had happened. Once they'd recovered from the incident they had finished mucking and fed the mares, he had asked her if she still wanted to go out to dinner and things had seemed hopeful. But as he sat outside the restaurant, smelling the changes in aromas of items being cooked, he was starting to worry that she wouldn't show up. Grey eyes habitually looked down at the watch on his wrist, sometimes discretely and sometimes obviously, then his gaze would search the crowds of people, trying to pick out the face of his friend.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hercules, you‘ve got nothing to say to me, ‘Cause your not the blinding light that I need - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - After their incident, they had quickly finished mucking out the stalls and feeding the horses, trying to steer clear of Stella. She had went back, taken a shower and freshened up nicely for Harley. She loosely curled her hair, letting it fall in soft waves and wore her makeup noticeably lighter. Throwing on her best looking jeans, and her low-cut flowy top, she paired the outfit with a cute pair of sandals and a bracelet.
Not far from the mall, she decided to just walk, thinking it would give her more time to prepare before she met him again. Millions of questions raced through her head, building butterflies up in her stomach with nervousness. How would things go? She had no idea how things would go after they departed from the barn. She could only hope he would still be genuinely interested in her, willing to pursue her even after things had gotten off to a blinding speed between them. However, she wouldn’t push the issue on him until he revealed it himself, leaving her even more nervous.
She finally arrived at the restaurant he had kindly asked her too, soft blue eyes scanning the crowd for his face. Once spotting him, she walked over toward him, stopping as she came to face with him, a big smile plastered on her façade.
“Hey there.”
She said happily, nervously awaiting his reaction to their first appearance to each other after their incident in the broodmare barn. Well, on a brighter note, at least he showed up. Harlington Fraser-Buchanan As he looked at his watch, Harley noticed that his leg was shaking up and down. An unconscious habit of his. He didn't stop it, though, considering it as something to focus on while he waited. It certainly was the worst part, sitting and wondering if the other person would show up. I don't know why she wouldn't unless it's because of what happened earlier... but even then she didn't appear like it'd stop her. He rubbed the side of his face with his hand.
Harley didn't look up until he saw a set of sandled feet stop in front of him. Only then did he raise his gaze, smiling when he saw Essie's face. Her makeup was noticeably lighter, but in his opinion she was just as attractive. Harley stood up. "Ello there, Essie. Long time no see." He looked into those blue and amber eyes briefly before turning and gesturing for her to enter the building first. "After ye, miss."

She was firstly greeted to a sign that had written in colorful chalk “please seat yourself.” After hesitating for a few moments, she walked to the very back , taking a seat at the bar. She hoped Harley wouldn’t mind, but Essie felt like having a few drinks tonight, and even maybe getting a little drunk.
Smiling as she looked over at Harley, finding his grey eyes, she spoke over the music in the background.
“I hope this is alright,”
She said unsure, taking her eyes off of his briefly, looking around the bar and the other people who sat around them before returning her gaze back to him. Hopefully he was in the same mood as her, ready to get to know each other and then later, get the party started. Harlington Fraser-Buchanan Harley followed her inside, noticing the "seat yourself" sign. His eyes carried their gaze around the place searching for any open tables, and even though he saw a few, he trailed behind Essie as she selected some stools at the bar. Almost immediately his attention drifted to the levers that had beer name labels on them, already looking for the one he wanted. Most of the choices they had were pretty good; the only problem was choosing one.
His head turned to look at her. "Aye, it's fine." He answered with a smile. As the bartender came over to them, Harley requested some Sierra Nevada and waited until Essie had put in her order. "So tell me," he began, thinking he'd start off with a topic that he thought would make her more comfortable. "What's Asheville like?"

Taking a sip of her strawberry daiquiri, she turned back to Harley answering his question.
“It’s a small, homey little town near a small range of mountains. Most everyone is super friendly and knows each other. It’s almost always cloudy and a little cooler than most places, but I like it.”
She said sweetly, remembering the family and close knit group of friends she left behind. She missed it of course, but she couldn’t have been happier that she moved. It led her both to the amazing stable of Foxtail Creek and the most amazing friend ever, Harley. Harlington Fraser-Buchanan Harley popped the cap off of the bottle, pocketing the cap and then putting the bottle to his lips and taking a few sips. It wasn't his first choice of beer but it certainly would do. The bitter taste rolled on his tongue delightfully before being swallowed. It'd been a while since he had had a drink and he was certain that this particular bottle wouldn't be his last.
"Ah like those kind o' towns." He mused out loud, setting the brown bottle on the bar. "Ah've come t' really like the mountains, though ah do miss the ocean. Is Asheville near the ocean?" He twisted the bottle around before taking another sip, not realizing how thirsty he was until now. At this rate I might as well just order another. "Any place with a cool atmosphere is better than this heat." Harley gave a light chuckle.

She would love to go back, to visit the big body of water that she clinged to her heart, alas as a broke stablehand, that dream would have to be put on hold for one day. Drifting out of her thoughts, she returned her attention back to Harley, taking a gulp of her drink that oh too soon would become too soft for her tastes.
“Ah, kind of.”
She said musing the actual distance between the east coast and Asheville, but nothing factual came to mind.
“But amen to that.”
She said happily, raising her glass up slightly before taking a drink out of it again.

Harlington Fraser-Buchanan The mountains were a nice change from Harley's monotonous life, but he missed the ocean. He longed for the smell of the salty water, the cool breeze it provided on a hot day, and the sound of the waves lapping against the rocks at night. It was like a lullaby when he was a little boy, curled up under the blankets with the window open on a summer night. Now all he heard at night was the chorus of crickets sounding in a pulsing rhythm; while it wasn't the familiar waves against rocks, it was something calm and constant.
"The heat can't last forever, thank goodness." He said. "Summer's halfway over anyway." Eventually it would get cooler but for now they just had to endure it in any way they could. He slid the bottle back and forth across the bar, hand to hand. "Ye don't s'pose we taught Titan any bad habits, now, do ye?" He couldn't keep smirk from appearing on his face.

She felt naughty about what happened, but she didn’t regret it one bit.
“Bad habits? If anything we gave him pointers, I’d say.”
She joked, tossing her dark hair to one side.
“You’re a natural.”
She said winking, wanting to keep him on edge but not yet push him off. It hit her again though, the memories of them previously in the stall making love. She remembered his body vividly, the emotions and sensations. Similarly, he could very well be keeping her on edge. Keeping her looking forward to something, but not quite caving into it yet. Drinking the last bit of her drink away as the thoughts slipped in. Harlington Fraser-Buchanan Harley snorted a laugh. He could just imagine Titan growing up thinking that he was the biggest and baddest stud in all of Foxtail, swooning all the mares with his athletic ability and human-learned "tips." It would be quite startling for whoever Titan's owner is in the future. Maybe they would think he had some kind of human conscious, or that he was a prodigy learner. Who would ever know the event that started it all? No one would ever guess.
"Ha, tips. That'd be one hell of a story t' explain someday." He said, grinning. "Jus' imagine walkin' along the pasture an' then seein' Titan swoon the mares like that." He then looked devilishly at her. "Well, maybe not a natural, but close enough." Harley amused himself with mock smugness in his tone as he polished off the remaining contents of alcohol, requesting a stronger beer from the bartender as he passed by.

He was funny, oh so very funny. She laughed and laughed, turning red in the face, gasping out the words between breaths.
“Lucky mares they’ll be.”
She rolled her eyes dramatically.
“We need to step our game up. Show ‘em how they show it on Animal Planet.”
She was in the process of beginning to lose it, all things slowly slipping away from her, farther in the distance as she started on the new beer, continuing to suck down the poison.
“Ugh, this is great stuff!”
She said loudly, sitting it back down on the bar harshly. What a night this would be.

Harlington Fraser-Buchanan Harley wasn't quite sure what about her comments struck him as being so hilarious but he found himself laughing so hard he snorted, which only made him snicker more. The idea of Titan just loaning himself out like that amused the boy to no end. A sudden intake of air; drops of the drink were sucked in and made him cough a few times into the inside of his elbow. Once he'd recovered, he took a few more sips.
The alcohol was starting to enter his system and made a crooked grin show up on his face with no apparent reason. "Wait, what do ye have?" His words were starting to string together, smothered in a thickening accent. "Oh, they're the same." He looked at the outer shell of her drink and then looked at his own, coming to realize that they were the same drinks.

She wiped them away, completely unaware that the people sitting around them were giving them funny looks. It wasn’t until Harley began to choke that she stopped laughing all together, more confused than concerned now as the alcohol had set in. Relaxing as he took another sip of his beer, she smiled back at him, caught off guard as he mentioned the beer.
“I…I think so. At least…I told him that’s what I wanted.”
Her thoughts were getting cluttered and lost, very confusing to Essie. What she wanted to say and what was coming out were two different things. Not affecting her though, she raised her bottle up to him, cueing for a cheer.
“Let’s drink to earlier, what do you say?”
She said smiling, a flirty laugh escaping her. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Harlington Fraser-Buchanan Harley raised his glass along with hers, snickering. "To earlier," he repeated, accent heavily smothering his words, "an' tomorrow, an' tomorrow, an' September." He tapped his glass against hers and took a hearty sip, then set it back down.
His gaze wandered around the bar, taking note of all the people in there. They ranged from large, burly men to dainty ladies that would look more natural in a tailoring shop rather than a bar. But Harley wouldn't judge them; they were probably here for the same reason he was: to have a good time.
His grey eyes landed on one particular couple a few tables behind the bar. The girl was eying them maliciously and the guy had had quite a few to drink, judging by the mess of bottles in front of him. He looked dazed but perfectly aware of the two his companion was glaring at.
"Ooooohhh no." Harley muttered, turning back around slowly to face Essie. "Don't look now but I believe those two people're eyin' us like... like somethin'."
