Woah, Mona Lisa, I'd pay to see you frown He senses something, call it desperation Another dollar, another day And if she had the proper words to say, ( She would tell him But she'd have nothing left to sell him --------------- ! )
It was a nice day today, and Jade felt the urge to ride. She hadn't gone on a trail ride since she'd arrived here at Foxtail so it was about time she got off her lazy butt and go make herself useful. She hastily put cowboy boots on and a pair of jeans and rushed out the door, wanting to get on the trail before the heat got the best of her. It wasn't the hottest summer she'd experienced, but it was hot enough to tire her out quickly. The ranch wasn't far from where she was temporarily staying, so the drive wasn't too bad. Jade arrived to the ranch and hopped out of her truck, realizing the massive dust storm that had collected behind her. "Oops." She shrugged and walked toward the main barn where her gelding Zeus was being boarded at. The sound of her boots made loud sounds on the floor, and she stopped quickly when she reached Zeus' stall - but where was her horse exactly?
"Zeus? Where you at boy?" Jade stood and stared at his stall, expecting to at least hear a little movement if he was laying down, but there was nothing. "Zeus?" She walked to the edge of his stall and put her delicate hands on the well furnished wood. Jade peered down and smirked, a bit disappointed that Zeus hadn't even attempted to let her know he was there. He lifted his head up with little enthusiasm, and quickly laid his head back down on the newly laid straw. Jade clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes, opening his stall door. She walked inside and stroked his neck quietly, humming his favorite song to him. His ears flew forward and he let out a soft sigh before warning Jade that he was getting up. Jade swiftly moved back and watched with awe as her big gelding gracefully pulled himself up and shook himself off with little effort. She grabbed his halter off the outside of the stall and led him toward the cross ties.
Zeus was still getting accustomed to the cross ties so Jade wasn't surprised when he immediately pulled back after she attempted to hook him up on the left side. Jade held him quietly and offered her hand to his forehead, massaging him lovingly. "Don't you worry Zeusy boy, you'll be in the cross ties for 20 minutes tops then you'll be free again." She gave him a soft kiss on the nose and walked him forward again, sighing heavily with relief as he stood while she clipped both sites. He was a bit fidgety but nothing that Jade couldn't handle. She quickly brushed him and picked his hooves then threw his deep red saddle pad on and his chestnut colored Ballard saddle. She grabbed his matching head stall and smiled as he easily took the snaffle. "Good boy, Zeus." She gave him a firm pat and walked him out of the barn. Jade tightened his saddle and swung her foot up easily swinging herself over the saddle and sat her butt very comfortably in the cushioned seat. "Alright, walk on Zeus." The command was all too familiar to the gelding and he instantly began to walk forward, his head low and relaxed.
The pair walked for a good forty-five minutes before they came across a place that took Jade's breath away. She'd heard stories of this place, but could have never imagined it the way she saw it. "Unicorn Grove, basically the children's playground." She chuckled to herself, and stroked Zeus' strong neck. They walked around a bit more before Jade decided to dismount and sit underneath a big tree. She took off Zeus' headstall and grabbed a halter that she had packed out of the saddle bag putting it on him effortlessly. She figured that she'd let the gelding graze while she contently sat here and thought about her life and what had become of it. Zeus put his muzzle to the soft grass and took supple bites, being sure to chew before taking another bite, but this only lasted a good thirty seconds, maybe a minute at most. Jade was so preoccupied with her thoughts and keeping an eye on Zeus that she hadn't even noticed the approaching horse and rider.

Harlington Fraser-Buchanan Lying backwards and on his belly, head resting comfortably against Riddle's squishy rear, Harley could have fallen asleep if it weren't for being smacked continuously with a whip-like tail. The fly spray he had used earlier didn't seem to be working; the constant shivers and shakes were enough to let Harley know that he had made a bad choice in deciding on a fly spray. "I'm sorry, Riddle." He mumbled into the soft dapple fur. "I'll find some way to fix it." The gelding snorted as he munched away at the grass, ripping up chunks and shaking his head.
A sharp pain on the side of Harley's leg woke him up completely - not to mention him shifting and ending up sliding off Riddle's back, landing uncomfortably on the hoof pick he always carried in his back pocket. Riddle seemed unaware, still content with his nose to the ground. Then came another ping of pain. Cursing under his breath, Harley turned his leg to see a massive horsefly clinging to his leg, large golf ball-like eyes staring off blankly. "Damn you." He slapped the little bugger as hard as he could without hurting himself too bad, watching the squished corpse fall off when he removed his hand. A satisfied grin came to his face. One less horsefly in the world to annoy horses. Harley wiped the gut remnants on his red-striped shirt.
He stood up and readjusted the hoof pick in his pocket. "Eh, well. We can go for a swim if you want, Riddle. Or a trail ride. How does that sound?" The gelding continued to graze and flicked his ears, ignoring the boy. "I know you don't want to but trust me, you'll like a calm trail ride." Harley untied the lead rope from around Riddle's neck and tugged the reluctant gelding from his food, leading him back to the main barn.
Outside the tack room, Harley dropped the lead rope and paused as Riddle eyed him curiously. He took a step back and the gelding stayed put. A smile came to his face and he quickly retreated into the tack room, plucking his bridle off the hook and coming back out, slipping it over the halter. He retied the lead rope loosely around his horse's neck, then slipped the reins over his head.
He led the horse back out and stopped him. "Oh, Riddle, I'm so bad at this. Bear with me and don't kill me, please." Harley grabbed a chunk of the black mane, took a step back, then swung and jumped up, trying to quickly wrap his leg over Riddle's back. He hadn't jumped high enough, though, so he slid right off. The dapple stood calmly as his human tried again and again to vault, successfully getting onto his back on the fifth try. "I'm sorry ye had to endure that." He gave Riddle a few pats on the shoulder before picking up the reins and turning the horse around, nudging him into a walk.
Starting down Unicorn Grove, Harley was deep into his thoughts, absentmindedly braiding a small part of Riddle's mane as he walked along with that long stride of his, ears forward and his head comfortably low. The boy was so involved with undoing the braid and re-twisting the three sections that he didn't notice when Riddle stopped until he heard the shuffling of something nearby. Harley lifted his eyes and saw a horse grazing and a girl seated peacefully underneath one of the trees. "Oh, hello."

Zeus' head shot up and his ears went flying forward, his breathing starting to increase. Jade shot her head up as she realized the sudden tension on the lead rope. She couldn't see in the distance what Zeus had sensed, but she knew there was something there. His muscles tensed and he arched his neck, his tail lifted in excitement. "What's up boy?" She became startled as the boy emerged into the clearing. She stood up and gathered Zeus' lead rope, her heart nearly about to beat out of her chest. "Oh my gosh, you scared the crap out of me!" She covered her chest with her delicate and pretty little hands, her eyes wide with the fear of a startled horse.
Jade cleared her throat and she stood up to face this exquisite stranger and his breathtakingly beautiful horse. She fancied her Warmblood more than the average human, but she could never deny the fact that this horse's color intrigued her. She strained her eyes away from this man's horse and focused her short attention span on the newly arrived pair. "Sorry about that, you startled me. I wasn't expecting anyone else." Zeus stepped closer to Jade, pinning his ears at the other horse. Jade looked at him and stepped him back, hoping that he would find his manners. "Nice day for a ride, don't you suppose?" She gave him a charming little smile, her rosy cheeks beginning to glow from the sun. This stranger was interesting, someone she looked forward to talking to and might possibly even getting to know. He was a handsome fella, kind of with a little boy look, but a look that Jade found very attractive.
